I was a little ranty and loose in this conversation with Scoot, but he was cogent and considered, so it all balanced out in the end. It’s all based on this note I published the other night about how it’s possible to understand media history through three distinct eras. Scoot compared the media shifts with the progression from aristocracy to oligarchy to democracy.
