Love these quotes, and couldn't agree more. Just started my own Substack last week and I'm really enjoying it so far. I've been blogging for years, but there's something so timeless, personal, and intimate about a simple email newsletter written by one real person (read: not a faceless corporation sending you an EXCLUSIVE OFFER). It reminds me of the very early days of blogging, even though there's nothing really new here.

I note that David Farrier has now left SubStack for Ghost, citing the irritating problem of people getting notifications via the SS app encouraging;
"... encouraging them to subscribe to a Nazi newsletter. Like, full-Nazi stuff. Not subtle."
Whether this comment stays here, and for how long, is a litmus test of your oft-discussed commitment to freedom of expression, I guess.
